At South Point Pet Hospital we work with the Surrey SPCA to ensure the
cats and dogs are spayed or neutered and tattooed prior to their adoption.
We also tend to SPCA animals needing veterinary assessments or treatment.
This is how we met “Ernie”, a one and
a half year-old, neutered male, domestic short hair,
gray tabby cat.
The SPCA brought Ernie to us because
a car had hit him and as a stray it was the shelters
responsibility to care for him until an owner could
be found. Upon initial examination it was determined
that Ernie would need to stay with us for a while
and receive treatment. His x-rays revealed that his
left hind leg had been broken.
Ernie was going to require a major
orthopedic surgery to repair his broken limb. Due to
the financial responsibility associated with such a
surgery we offered to adopt him from the shelter, perform
the surgery and keep him as our clinic cat. It wasn’t
a hard decision to make, as his winning personality
and handsome face had won us over almost immediately
upon meeting him.
So that is the story of how Ernie got his surgery, a new start at life and how he came to be a part of our team. After a while, Ernie started feeling stressed living in the clinic atmosphere, and has now happily gone to live with our staff member Amanda Ferguson.
